Surveillance platforms are using more and more sensors (radar, EW, etc.) that need to transmit high bandwidth video signals to a large number of operator stations that can then choose which data to display on their monitors.

Fiber optic based networks are the ideal solution for this demanding application offering the large bandwidth and EMI immunity required. Similarly, the commercial aircraft industry is exploring fiber optic networks for in-flight entertainment systems, bringing video and data services to every passenger on the plane.
